In 2020, The Output Of Ten Non-ferrous Metals In My Country Will Exceed 60 Million Tons For The First Time

Feb 06, 2021

It was learned from the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association on January 29 that in 2020, the output of ten non-ferrous metals in my country exceeded the 60 million tons mark for the first time, reaching 61.680 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 5.5%.

"The global total annual output of non-ferrous metals is about 120 million tons, and my country exceeds 60 million tons. This reflects the scientific and technological innovation and technological progress of my country's non-ferrous industry in mining, processing, and smelting. Provides important guarantee and support." said Jia Mingxing, vice chairman and secretary general of China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association.

It is reported that in 2020, in the face of the sudden new crown pneumonia epidemic, after the non-ferrous metals industry hit the bottom in the first quarter, it will be recovering from the second quarter. On the whole, the operation of the whole year in 2020 was significantly better than expected, and the non-ferrous metal industrial production, efficiency and average annual prices of copper and aluminum were better than the previous year. In 2020, the regulated non-ferrous metal industrial enterprises (including independent gold companies) will achieve operating income of 5826.65 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 3.8%; realizing total profits of 183.32 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 19.2%.

2020 is the final year of the 13th Five-Year Plan. Jia Mingxing said that during the "13th Five-Year Plan" period, the production of non-ferrous metals industry has risen steadily, and investment has declined steadily. In 2020, the benefits of non-ferrous metal enterprises will rebound to better than the profitability levels in 2018 and 2019.

It is worth noting that during the "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan" period, the total investment in fixed assets completed by my country's non-ferrous metal industry showed a steady and declining trend, with an average annual decline of 2.6%. In this regard, Jia Mingxing analyzed that during the "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan" period, the decline in investment in non-ferrous metal smelting and common processing projects is a manifestation of the effect of implementing the policy to resolve overcapacity. "Non-ferrous metal smelting and common processing projects have overcapacity or have been saturated, and new projects have decreased. When the smelting capacity is reduced by the same amount, the construction unit capacity investment has been significantly reduced. For example, the investment cost per ton of electrolytic aluminum production capacity has been reduced from previous years. From about 10,000 yuan to five or six thousand yuan."
