The U.S. eases tariffs on steel and aluminum imports from Britain

After a lapse of four years, the tariff dispute between the United States and its main allies in the field of steel and aluminum has finally come to an end. Following the reconciliation with the European Union, the U.S. Commerce Department issued a statement on the 22nd that the United States and the United Kingdom had reached an agreement to ease import tariffs on British steel and aluminum products.

From June 1, the United States can import 500,000 tons of steel products, 900 tons of unwrought aluminum products, and 11,400 tons of forged aluminum products from the United Kingdom duty-free each year, and the excess imports will be subject to tariffs. In exchange, the U.K. will remove retaliatory tariffs on more than $500 million worth of U.S. exports to the U.K., including distilled spirits, agricultural products, and consumer goods.
