World Steel Association: Global crude steel production in July was 161.7 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 3.3%

 

 

According to foreign news on August 24, data released by the World Steel Association on Tuesday showed that global crude steel production in July 2021 was 161.7 million tons, an increase of 3.3% from July 2020.

Crude steel production by region

   Africa's output in July 2021 was 1.3 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 36.9%. Production in Asia and Oceania was 116.4 million tons, down 2.5% year-on-year. The output of the CIS was 9.2 million tons, an increase of 11.2% year on year. The EU (27 countries) produced 13 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 30.3%. The output of other European countries was 4.1 million tons, an increase of 4.6% year on year. The output in the Middle East was 3.6 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 9.2%. North American production was 10.2 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 36.0%. South American production was 3.8 million tons, an increase of 19.6% year on year.

The above-mentioned regions contain data submitted by 64 steel-producing countries, and their output in 2020 will account for 98% of global crude steel output. Regions and countries included in the table:

   Africa: Egypt, Libya, South Africa

  Asia and Oceania: Australia, China, India, Japan, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Korea, Taiwan, Vietnam

   CIS: Belarus, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Russia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan

  Other European countries: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Norway, Serbia, Turkey, United Kingdom

  North America: Canada, Cuba, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, the United States

  South America: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, Venezuela

   The top ten countries in cumulative crude steel production from January to July 2021

China's crude steel output in July 2021 was 86.8 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 8.4%.

India's output was 9.8 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 13.3%.

Japan's production was 8 million tons, an increase of 32.5% year on year.

U.S. production was 7.5 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 37.9%.

Russia is estimated to have produced 6.7 million tons, an increase of 13.4% year on year.

South Korea's output was 6.1 million tons, an increase of 10.8% year on year.

German production was 3 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 24.7%.

Turkish production was 3.2 million tons, an increase of 2.5% year on year.

Brazil's output was 3 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 14.5%.

Iran is estimated to have produced 2.6 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 9.0%.
